I've searched the archives and read that apparently replacing an existing TH350 kickdown cablevision tin be done without dropping the pan. How about installing a cable when there's no cable already installed? If I understand correctly from what I've read, to replace an existing cablevision you loosen a bolt that holds the cable housing to the instance, then utilize the cable to pull a small rod upward out of the case- then you disconnect the former cable from this rod and connect the new cable. My question is, tin y'all still get to this rod if there'due south no existing cable to pull it upwards with? Can you lot pull it up with needlenose pliers or something? I will be installing the cable with trans out of the vehicle.

(I'thou not at all familiar with where the kickdown cablevision enters the trans case. I can't get a look at this TH350 I intend to install for a few days yet, simply I desire to go the parts ordered alee of fourth dimension, just wondering if I demand to plan on dropping the pan.) Thanks in advance...

You should take no trouble reaching in at that place with needle olfactory organ pliers and pulling it up far plenty to put through the center on the cable. It is spring loaded so stop pulling when it stops don't pull hard. Slip the centre of the kickdown over the wire and yous are set. Make sure when yous put kickdown cablevision back on trans instance to exist sure rod is still in center. Once the rod goes past the cable housing information technology can't come off.

Aye, simply like Jeff said. It's a lot easier if you lot proceed the whole cablevision under the auto until y'all become it hooked up. Makes the twists and turns easier.

Brand certain y'all understand the aligning process. Y'all'll take it done in no fourth dimension.

PS- My pinky was small enough to reach in there and lift the rod up.

Doug,
I did this about a month ago when I had to swap TH350's in my '62. All y'all need to practise is remove the the screw & agree down clip, and then pull up on the cablevision at the base. At the most full extended office, there will be a metal wire poking out of the trans.

The end of the metallic wire is shaped only like on the metallic throttle linkage on a lawnmower. It's pretty easy to get the kickdown cable off & on the metal rod.

I forgot to mention a few things. lol
The kickdown cablevision location is located on the passenger side of the trans just to the left of the 2 transmission cooler lines. If the trans is out, you lot should be able to pull the linkage up with a set of needle olfactory organ pliers, if not, a small magnet on a teliscopic(sp) pen.

When adjusting the kickdown cable, you volition want to pull on the cable until information technology will not come up out anymore, and make certain the throttle is at WOT. This will requite y'all a dead on kickdown setup.

Y'all should push the housing slider towards the firewall, then press the pedal to the floor to brand the adjustment.
